The brief
Redevelop the existing light industrial site with a private residential scheme that would appeal to families and professionals.
The outcome
Working in conjunction with Robert Barker at Stolon Studios, the outcome of this was a small ‘sociable’ development of residential and live/work units, set around a shared courtyard garden. The development was completed using architectural creativity whilst delivering within the confines of a mews development. Meridian are very proud of our team in delivering this bespoke urban project, which ultimately required a hybrid approach with both traditional block work and timber frame construction. The project had its challenges along the way – after starting it became apparent that the neighbouring railway line was going to cause an issue and resulted in the requirement to work with the architect to reduce the whole site by 2 meters to accommodate basement features and for contiguous piling to provide containment of the Network Rail infrastructure. Despite having its many challenges and compromising space, Meridian successfully delivered the project on budget and time.
