The brief
To transform Studio 3 Arts’ home into a world-class arts centre, extending the existing venue and enhance the current space, consisting of various office areas, a lounge and café/bar, recording studio, communal facilities, accessible changing spaces and main theatre.
The outcome
Designed with and for the local community, the entire scheme comprised of internal demolition allowing the building to be reconfigured. A new external canopy was installed alongside a new build extension which became the new studio space. The client specifically asked that this project was carried out with sustainable construction methods in mind, and being funded heavily by a variety of sources, including Arts Council England and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport these were strict guidelines which we had to follow. The project finished with a space reflecting exactly what the brief had asked, with GPF Lewis showcasing it on case studies on their website as a project they are proud of, and one we too, were very happy to be a part of.
