The brief

To create a bespoke, one off, Paragraph 80 living space to fit in seamlessly to the surroundings of the ancient parkland and in keeping with strict planning conditions surrounding the natural habitat of wildlife.

The outcome

The CGIs from the architect on this one looked fantastic when we first saw them, so there were some high expectations which we were keen to live up to, and hopefully exceed. The client was downsizing from their existing manor house and constructing this new dwelling on the same site and specifically wanted to keep impact on the surrounding landscape to a minimum. This was a testing project, given the living roof element which we hadn’t done before, but we ensured we got the correct professionals involved to ensure the whole project ran smoothly. What we have achieved is a stunning bespoke living space, in keeping with the surroundings as directed by planning, and something our client is very proud of. Building this property in to the leap, a veritable ha-ha has encouraged calls for the reintroduction of deer into the park is this now acts as a method of retaining livestock in the parkland, whilst not impacting the views from any of the surrounding listed buildings.

‘I would like to thank you and your team for the manner in which you have completed an interesting contract for my wife and I. The multi-million contract has been carried out in a cooperative and positive manner. Your site manager, brought his extensive experience in the industry to the benefit of the job.
It was interesting because we had a separate contractor for the supply and installation of the windows. As we know it was incompetently managed. Your team helped to deal with the difficulties that arose.
The quality of the work was good.
It was a good team effort – a key requirement for any successful construction contract.’
