The brief

Meridian were contracted to build a large split-level detached home in Esher, Surrey. The result was The White House.

The site of The White House was fairly steep and BACA designed the home to allow central access to the property to descend from street level, through the house and down to the garden.

Above the entrance, a bridge links the house at first floor level where the private family spaces are located including all five bedrooms, bathrooms and a dressing room.

The project included the build of a bespoke staircase and a profiled kitchen island unit and living room fire place. The house was designed to make the best use of the sun, with large double-glazed windows to the south and smaller triple-glazed windows to the north.
